Hi, I am Memoria James, and I'm a xenophile from Houston, Texas. I speak
English, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, with a reading knowledge of
French. I can also read Korean characters but am far from fluent. I have
a masters and have completed PhD coursework in Spanish and Portuguese
linguistics, and I teach college-level Spanish. However, my heart now
belongs to traveling, returning to Europe permanently, and conjuring up
domestic and international, culinary creations. I love to bake and cook
simple and complicated dishes. I love to try out different international
dishes and, after much research and recipe comparisons, make them as authentic as possible. I also enjoy baking for my family, friends, colleagues, and students.

I just read your "about me" section and am very pleased to know that you are pursuing your doctorate. I hold a Ph.D. in marketing and have been a professor for 16 years. It is always nice to meet another like-minded soul in the blogosphere; there are few in higher ed who blog (I think due to the time and dedication that it takes). ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog. We have much in common. My undergrad work was in in Spanish and French, way too many years ago. We've moved many times over the years but found Houston was just one of our favorite places. My son, who will be married in August, now lives in Houston. So we have hopes that some day soon we'll be back. I read your blog regularly. NB: in my opinion, there is no bbq like Rudy's. I order the rub all the time. I've only been to the original in Leon Springs, but my son told me yesterday that there is a new location at 290 and the Beltway. He called yesterday to rub it in that he'd been there for lunch. Buena suerte with the doctorate. Very impressive.

ReplyDeleteEu sou portuguesa, licenciada em Psicologia, casada, adoro cozinhar, trabalhei muitos anos em formação e recursos humanos, o que me levou a conhecer e trabalhar com o ETS (Educational Testing Service).
Depois de quase 10 anos a trabalhar com o TOEFL e o TOEIC em Portugal, estou a viver no México há quase 4 anos com o meu marido e os meus 2 filhos.
Para quando o regresso à Psicologia? Não sei...por enquanto dedico-me à familia e à cozinha.
